Polyethylene is commonly used to produce rotational molding products and this kind of material has its own characteristics.
Polyethylene is a kind of macromolecular compound that formed by addition polymerization of ethylene, and based on polymerization conditions, the number of molecule may varies from one to several million. Polyethylene is white and semi-transparent, little flexible, non-toxic and flammable. When melting, it smells like paraffin. The performance of polyethylene is related to its molecular as well as the degree of crystallization.
1. The plastic can be easily and cheaply made into powder or paste to ensure a faster heat transfer between raw materials during the process of rotational molding
2. The melt flow rate (MFR, also known as melt index) of the plastic should be appropriate, that is means that the raw material must have good fluidity (flowing by itself and hanging the wall in the mold cavity) in the case of no external force after heating and melting.
